Amica Group Donations

We've been very happy to be able to hold regular meetings at Amica Unionville over the past few months. We're also thrilled that our group has grown with a couple of new residents joining us in the past two months. We continue to knit away as much as we can. Here's our group's donations from back in February:

Thanks Friedl for more scarves!

And a few beautiful blankets

Monica crocheted a couple of baby blankets as well

Hat and scarf sets from Monica

Hat and mitten sets, also knit by Monica

And for something different, Monica made these
cute burp cloth and face cloth sets

And through March, April, May and June:

From Monica, some hats, scarves and cowls

As well as 2 more crocheted baby blankets

These 3 blankets were donated anonymously at
Amica. The first 2 are done in Mosaic Crochet
which looks amazing

More hat and scarf sets from Friedl

and some more scarves

As if that wasn't enough, all of these
blankets were also created by Friedl!

As always, thanks so much to the Amica ladies for their support of Casting Off the Cold. We look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.

SUMMER UPDATE

 Hi, Everyone!

We'd just like to touch base with all of you, as we are still not able to have in-person meetings. We hope that you and your families have been able to stay safe and healthy as we continue to deal with COVID-19, and that you've been able to take some time to knit and crochet during what seemed like an interminable and snowy winter.

With summer finally just around the corner, it'll soon be time to knit in the backyard, or on the balcony, or at the cottage, with a glass of your favourite beverage nearby and hopefully some good conversation with family and friends to go along with it.

Thanks to all of you for holding on to your projects until now. We're working on consolidating yarn bins in Sally's basement to make room for everything you'll be dropping off and sending in...and we're sure it will be quite a large amount! Sally will be in touch either on facebook or by email to make arrangements starting in July.

If you're looking for projects to make, please remember that we always need baby blankets, a minimum size of 30" x 30", in baby weight, soft yarns. The Pregnancy Centre and Rose of Sharon give out quite a few throughout the year and are always thrilled to get more from us.

If you're into making hats and scarves, especially if you're using an uncommon colour or colourway, please consider combining it with another yarn and making a matching set with stripes instead of just a hat. When we're setting up our donations, we try to match up individual hats and scarves as much as possible, but sometimes the colours just don't work out.

As always, we want to thank all of you for taking the time to produce the wonderful items we donate every year. We're now in our 16th year at Casting Off the Cold, and we could not have been able to support our community as we have without your time and talent.

Have a wonderful summer! We hope we'll be able to see each other soon.

First Donation from the Amica Unionville Group

We aren't able to have regular meetings yet at Amica Unionville, but our ladies there have been busy, especially Friedl. Here is their first donation for 2022, which we were able to pick up:

Friedl gave us 4 lovely blankets

and some scarves.

Monica made a number of hat and scarf sets using knitting looms:

Thank you so much, ladies! We look forward to seeing you again when things open up enough for our meetings to start up.
