Happy Holidays!

We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday Season and all the best for the New Year. 2021 was another difficult year, as we were not able to have our regular meetings and spend time together, but we are so grateful to everyone who still took the time to knit and crochet for us, and work with us to arrange pickups and dropoffs of finished projects.

We still managed to give our charitable organizations a great number of items, and each of them was thrilled and surprised that even during the pandemic we were able to help them help the community with so many beautiful items.

Thank you all once again. We hope that sometime during 2022 we will be able to resume our meetings. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy, and keep knitting!

Final Donations Made for 2021!

We made our last donation for this year to the Krasman Centre in Richmond Hill. As always, they were very happy to receive 3 bags of items from us. Some will be going to their new shelter location on Georgina Island in Lake Simcoe to help out in that area.

We also delivered additional bags to Rose of Sharon, 360Kids and Yellow Brick House.

We'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who crafted for Casting Off the Cold through the lockdown and restrictions of the pandemic. All of the organizations we delivered to were thrilled to get our donations and were amazed at the number of items and that they were all handmade. Hopefully we can get back to meeting in person again next year!

Some last donations from the Amica group

We still had some donations come from the Amica group before we made our final drop-offs this year. We needed lots of scarves to go with many hats we had received, so Monica knit quite a few.

As well, we had our first scheduled meeting in almost 2 years at Amica in October. Friedl has been especially busy and donated all of these items:

She certainly is a 'knitting machine'! Thanks again to the Amica group for keeping up with their knitting even when they were in quarantine and unable to meet each other regularly.

MORE DONATIONS

We visited Rose of Sharon and the Markham Crisis Pregnancy Centre this week. As always, they were more than thrilled to receive our donations. We have been giving to both of these organizations since we started in 2006 and they have always used our baby blankets and other items in baskets for their young mothers.

Thanks to all the work of our members, they can continue to make sure their clients have warm winter items for themselves and their children. Thank you to everyone who donated to Casting Off the Cold!

4 bags were delivered to Rose of Sharon

The Pregnancy Centre received 6 bags
