Markham Meeting

Although the turnout for this month's Markham meeting was a bit light, we received some wonderful items, including a couple of hand-knit stuffed toys!  So let's start the show:

From Mary and the ladies at Cedarcroft Retirement Residence, a large selection of hats and preemie hats, some soft baby washcloths and a beautiful patchwork squares blanket. But the teddy and reindeer toys stole the show. Aren't they adorable? Mary's 2 scarves are rolled up behind them, holding them up. Thanks to all of you!

Christine, as always, had a lovely selection of items to donate:

A crocheted hat and scarf

A very fine seed-stitch blanket.

Hats and scarves - some even in the Argo or Leafs colours
for any young sports fans

Another blanket came from Marianne:

And finally, Monica supplied some Mobius-style cowls and a short buttoned scarf:

This is how the cowls look. Nice and warm and very easy to make!

Thanks to everyone for coming out and making donations. Many of us had projects still in progress; we should see them at the next meeting at the beginning of December.

2012 Donations

As mentioned in the last post, we made a number of our 2012 donations in October. We found it easier and more personal to be able to see everyone who would be connecting to the individuals receiving the results of all of our hard work.

We stopped in at the York Region Women's Centre with our 3 bags and left them with Melissa:

And at Rose of Sharon where we met with Melissa who was thrilled to receive our bags on behalf of the young mothers and small children:

We also visited the Pregnancy Centre to drop off another three bags:

Here is a photo from our drop-off at Pathways:

And another from Yellow Brick House:

Everyone at these organizations was so pleased to receive items for their clients for the winter, and the number of 'ooh's' and 'ah's' as the representatives looked through the selection of blankets, hats, scarves and other items was just too many to count!  We've still got some more to distribute in the next week or so. Once again, as we do at every meeting, we'd like to thank every one of you who put your time, talent and skill towards knitting and crocheting for these worthy causes.

Of course, as winter descends upon us and we're stuck inside, it just means we're starting all over again for 2013!
