BATA SHOE MUSEUM'S ANNUAL SOCK DRIVE

Calling all knitters and crocheters to the Bata Shoe Museum for their annual warm the Sole Sock Drive.
You are invited to join them on Nov, 13/29 2009 on the bottom floor, in the knitting nook room to knit or crochet a scarf. All finished items will be donated to the Scott Mission.
The weather is defiantly getting colder and it is such a great feeling to help keep some one warm this winter. So get your needles out and grab some yarn and head on down to the Museum and knit up a scarf. Be kind to some one this winter.

ANNUAL DONATION DAY 2009

November 1st was our big donation day, we donated over 1500 items to many shelters in York Region. Here are a few pictures of the representatives collecting there goods, and as you can see they were all so appreciative for what they received.

The Member were working very hard this year, so we were able to have a lot of baby blankets and afghans, so the Charities will have enough for all the little ones.

I am very grateful to have such a great bunch of ladies volunteering their precious time to make a difference in York Region. As always, I could not do this with out you.

I would like to thank you all very much.

Here you can see a few of the bags and a display of items on the table.

Bata Shoe Museum Sock Knitting Workshop

On January 25, four members of Casting Off the Cold held a workshop at the Bata
Shoe Museum to teach experienced knitters how to make socks.
We had twelve students in all, some of whom preferred crocheting to knitting, so Tracy held a small class to teach crocheting socks. Thanks a million, Tracy; we know socks aren't on your list of favourites.
Even though we were limited to a 5-hour session, a few of our students managed to finish a whole sock, and they were all pleased to have mastered a new technique. We presented each one of our participants with a Certificate at the end of the session, and many were very interested in what Casting Off the Cold is doing.
Thanks to the participants, the Bata Shoe Museum and our members for organizing and taking part. Click below to see a short video of the event.
